Pontillo's Pizzeria FAQ
Over the years we have heard a lot of the same questions and myths about Pontillo's Pizzeria or about the food service industry in general. These are all true questions that people have asked us.
Q: Why does it take so long get a delivery on weekends or during dinner, especially when the weather is bad?
A: There are many possible reasons to this problem. We have great tasting food and the demand for our product is higher on weekends and during the dinner rush. Bad weather can cause major delays in traffic, thus slowing down our run time. Sometimes we are just too busy to keep up, and we appreciate those who are patient. Believe me, we do not make anyone wait when there is no need to make them wait. A speedy alternative is to pick your order up yourself and meet our friendly staff.
Q: Since it will take over a hour to get my food delivered, will I get it cold and old because it's been sitting for so long?
A: No, We don't make the order upon receiving it unless it is in the zone that we are delivering to next. We time our orders so they are delivered as soon as they are ready.
Q: Why do you have computers in a pizza place?
A: We have a large and diverse selection of food on our menu, and the computer helps to accurately take and make the order, improving customer service and satisfaction.
Q: How come you don't have any coupons or "party packages"
A: Since we use high quality and expensive ingredients in all the food we make, our low price is a deal in itself. At Pontillo's you get the best value for your money.
Q: Is the name of your pizzeria "Ponteleone's"?
A: NO, it is Pontillo's. It always has been. The confusion stems back to the early eighties when Pontillo's was first established in Cortland down at 132 South Main St. Around the same time Monteleone's opened a second pizza shop nearby in the clock tower building, the two new pizzerias created a confusion that still puzzles many.
Q: Why do you say that you are established in 1982 and since 1947?
A: Pontillo's Pizza was first established in 1947 in Batavia, NY by the Pontillo brothers Sam, Tony, Jim and Mike. Since then, there has been several Pontillo's pizzerias opened in the western NY/Rochester area by the Pontillo family. Most of them are owned relatives and friends of the Constantino's. The Cortland Pontillo's was opened in 1982 by Ron Constantino, a nephew and former longtime employee of the Batavia Pontillo's Pizzeria.
Q: How come when I order 30 or 50 wings you won't split the sauce? (i.e. 1/2 hot, 1/2 BBQ)
A: When someone orders 2 or more different sauces, it is the same as 2 or more different orders. Since we don't sell 15 or 25 wings, we have no way of properly charging you for the extra labor and packaging.
Q: I didn't get enough drumsticks or flat wing parts, aren't we supposed to get even portions of each wing part?
A: We try to make the distribution of the wing parts as even as possible, but it is nearly impossible to get it right or close every time. We receive our wings in bulk and it would be too difficult and labor intensive to count exact wing parts.
Q: Are your hot wings mild or hot?
A: Our wings are hot out of the fryer and we can coat them with a mild, medium, hot or bbq sauce.
Q: How hot is your hot sauce?
A: Our hot sauce is hot enough to be considered hot by most people that enjoy hot and spicy food. Sometimes the degree of hotness might vary because of ingredient potency. We can make our wing sauce extra hot for those that find our hot sauce too mild for them.
Q: Do I have to tip the driver?
A: Tipping is optional, but keep in mind that the driver's income relies mostly on tips they receive. They provide a service by using their own car to bring food to your door.
Q: Do you accept coupons from the Rochester Pontillo's Pizza Website?
A: No, sorry we cannot accept coupons from the Internet at this time. The only coupon we have is in the 2006 Yellow Book phonebook.
Q: Are you open for lunch? Why not?
A: No, we are no longer open for lunch. We have tried to open for lunch in the past and it is difficult to operate since we are open very late at night.
Q: Do you have online ordering?
A: No, not at this time. We used to offer it, but the system was cumbersome and prone to human errors. Sometime in the future we will offer this service again.
